METROID! [03/16/2011|09:30 pm]

Here is a new comic! It is about Metroid!

FULL DISCLOSURE! I never beat this game. I owned it. Played it for years. Never saw a single mini-boss. The open worldness of it had me lost forever. People talked of Ridley being awesome but I never even saw his sprite until a few years ago. I found out Samus was a girl from Nintendo Power and the Justin Bailey code.

Love it. I had Chris Yates make a custom Metroid baffler for me a few years ago. Two fanboy notes: 1) a missile is overkill for a zoomer 2) you totally need to use an ice beam on a metroid (then 5 missiles)!

I found out Samus was a girl thanks to the "JUSTIN BAILEY" code. Then a year or so later, I would learn from my cousin that red doors could be opened with missiles, which transformed the game into something playable. We like to believe that games were harder back then, but the truth is I think a lot of us just weren't very good players.
