Oregon Trail nostalgia always makes me leery, because I never felt I was particularly good at it. "You caulk the wagon and attempt to ford the river. Whoops! Didn't work, you just lost all your shit and half your family is dead, and you didn't even make it to fucking North Dakota."
Of course, nowadays I appreciate its value as an educational tool, but in those days I just wanted to win win win.
I'm also leery of the "can't spare a bullet" line since those are usually the first folks to suggest resorting to cannibalism.
